Toy Box Games are available for Disney Infinity 2.0 and Disney Infinity 3.0, and differ from Play Set Games in the sense that they are not limited to being used with only the Character Figures for its franchise, but any Character Figures for its studio.[1] For games that can be played with any character from any studio or franchise, see Toy Box Expansion Games.

The Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes Starter Pack comes with the Assault on Asgard and Escape from the Kyln discs, while the Disney Infinity: Toy Box Starter Pack includes Brave Forest Siege and Stitch's Tropical Rescue. Since people would probably not purchase both starter packs (because this would give you an extra copy of the game and an extra base, an unnecessary expense), John Vignocchi stated on Twitter that each pair of game discs would be sold separately for $19.99 in the US on January 2015.[2]

Assault on Asgard and Stitch's Tropical Rescue are essentially the same game; they are a Defend type game where you place turrets and other weapons to help you prevent waves of enemies from destroying a base that you have to protect.

Escape from the Kyln and Brave Forest Siege are also the same Exploration type game; they involve running through large, randomly-generated areas, fighting monsters along the way, to reach a goal.

Each game has a tutorial plus eight levels of increasing difficulty. The regular levels of the two Marvel games can only be played with Marvel figures, and the regular levels of the two non-Marvel games can only be played with non-Marvel figures. However, playing through the introduction and first level of any minigame unlocks a "Survival Mode" which you can play with any Disney Infinity 1.0 or 2.0 figure.

  • It should be noted however that Character Figures not from the same studio as the game cannot enter the game hub. For example, in order for Tinker Bell to play "Defense Survival Mode" in Assault on Asgard, a Marvel Super Heroes Character Figure must enter the game hub and select that mode, after which a non-Marvel character can be switched on the Disney Infinity Base.

The Toy Box Game discs from Disney Infinity 2.0 will not be compatible with 3.0, but can be placed on the Disney Infinity Base to unlock Toy Box Game Toys from 2.0 for use in the 3.0 Toy Box.[3]
