Sumo is a multi player Adventure in Disney Infinity 1.0. Characters from Cars cannot be used in this Adventure. It is unlocked after completing Combat Mastery.

Gameplay[]

The goal is to "stay on the blocks as long as you can" (quote from the Narrator), while fighting Enemies.[1] Standard Disney Infinity combat rules apply: characters may use their own skills associated with the attack button, the right trigger (when no Tool is equipped), and may perform a "ground pound" if able to do so. Enemies able to be picked up such as Omnidroids can still be picked up, carried, and thrown - whether at another Enemy, or just over the edge.

The game takes places on a six by six group of Square Blocks, surrounded by two Wide Floating Cliff on each side. Once the timer begins, the game will start by removing one block approximately every five seconds (starting at the seven second mark when it warns players to "watch for disappearing blocks"), beginning with Floating Cliff terrain blocks at random, until all eight have been removed. It will then remove random Square Blocks from the outside edge, until only the center four by four group of blocks remains. It will then remove the remaining blocks at random, whether or not they're on an outside edge.

Spark Capsules and Tools will spawn, though each for a limited period of time. Collecting a Tool will automatically equip it. Equipped Tools can neither be changed for others the character may have unlocked, nor unequipped.

A brown block with skulls may appear at any time, from when the Adventure first starts until it ends. When hit, it will explode and defeat all Enemies. The block is also a hazard to characters in the sense that, while it remains active, it will periodically move across the blocks by rolling onto a different side once every few seconds, pushing aside anything in its path - characters and enemies alike. This acts as if it were a melee attack, and if a character is hit, they will be knocked to the ground - or possibly off the edge if they're at the edge.

The game ends when:

  • the last player standing is defeated or falls off the blocks,
  • another player gets a gold medal[2], or
  • only one block remains. If the character is still standing, they will cheer as the last block is removed out from under them, and then they will fall anyway.[3]

Trivia[]

  • It should be noted that items always spawn centered above a Square Block. This may be due to the placement of (unseen) Locators. It can therefore be useful to try to follow the joints between blocks when moving if trying to avoid unintentionally picking up a different Tool.
  • Jumping and attacking at the same time may be a useful approach.
  • Near the end as the blocks run out, characters that can "ground pound" may find that a useful strategy.

  1. Enemies spawn continuously until there are only three Square Blocks left.
  2. As the rate of removal is timed, there are always a number of blocks remaining at the three minute mark when a gold medal is awarded.
  3. The maximum duration may be 3:37, the time shown on the clock when this occurs.
  4. The King's Guard appears more frequently toward the end, and exclusively after a silver medal is awarded.
  5. The Star Command Boost Pack appears at the end, below the layer of blocks; presumably in case a character falls off, or wants to intentionally try to obtain it - with no room for error if they miss it.
  6. The Baseball Shooter has a strong knock back effect.
  7. The Baseball Shooter and Toilet Paper Launcher must be reloaded every time they fire.

  9. Unlike the bombs, the Halloween Town Jack-O-Lanterns can be thrown directly at an enemy.
  10. The Paintball Gun can fire eight paint balls before reloading.
  11. The Paintball Gun will defeat an enemy in three hits.

  15. The Toilet Paper Launcher will defeat an enemy in two hits.
