Missed opportunities for Disney Infinity 6.0

Last year, Disney pulled the plug on Disney Infinity before version 4.0 could be completed. Had they continued supporting the game, about now is when we would have seen version 5.0 released and work would have begun on version 6.0.

Last month, Disney began negotiations with 21st Century Fox to buy the entertainment assets, and today, it was confirmed that the two companies would merge. This will bring the following into the Disney fold:

  • X-Men movies
  • Fantastic Four movies
  • distribution rights of DreamWorks Animation films from 2013 to 2017, which they could trade to Universal Pictures for the Hulk films
  • shows on Fox such as The Simpsons

So there are three franchises (all but Hulk) that Avalanche Software could have started working with for 6.0. The …

It has begun

I haven't played Infinity much during the past year and missed pretty much all of the 3.0 edition after the starter kit. After Disney pulled the plug a few months ago, I figured I better get the entire set before it was gone.

I got most of the figures, playsets and power disc sets, and stumbled upon these display globes at GameStop in their clearance section for $5.97 each. I get the ones that are available at whichever store I happen to be at, but I probably should just go on the website and buy a bunch so I'll have enough for a full set.

One of the other items I have been looking for is the Nemo figure. That's the last one I don't have, and now I'll need to go to Amazon or Ebay to get it because Toys R Us and Best Buy are out, and GameStop a…

Black Friday Deals for Disney Infinity

If you are amongst the people who revel in fighting crowds to get a deal, a few of the stores in the United States will have some Disney Infinity items on sale either Thursday or Friday. You can find the ads at places like BlackFriday.com, and you definitely need to read the fine print for limitations, store hours, etc. Most of these have limited quantities, don't offer rain checks and on the "BOGO" items, the discounted item has to be an equal or lesser value than the full-price item.

Toy Box Summit this weekend

Wow. They really don't give much notice on these kinds of things. This weekend, August 16 and 17, 2014, John Vignocchi and Allison Petrek will host a special preview of the 2.0 Toy Box. They are going to hold the "first ever 2.0 Toy Box competition" with 20 of the best Toy Box Artists. Version 2.0 of Infinity was announced just a short time ago, so saying this is the "first ever" competition for this version is a little redundant.

Here's the schedule. All times are in the Pacific time zone of the United States.

Saturday, August 16, 2014
  • 8:00 AM: Toy Box Summit Keynote, with John Blackburn and John Vignocchi
  • 8:30 AM: Toy Box Team Panel, with Blackburn, Vignocchi and four members of the design team
  • 9:30 AM: 2.0 Toy Box Training, with the Toy Box Men…

Disney Infinity's future revealed on April 30th

In the newest "Toy Box TV", John Vignocchi announced that there will be a special live webcast at DisneyInfinity.com on Wednesday, April 30th that will reveal the future of Disney Infinity. We already know that at least one Marvel character will be involved, as shown by this video (which is duplicated here on our wiki).

At the moment, there isn't any kind of special notice or placeholder on the Disney Infinity website for the event. Check the website next week on Monday or Tuesday to see if they have anything prepared. But as shown in the image to the right, they've announced the time as being at 10 a.m. PST (1 pm EST).

"Toy Box TV" is an official weekly webcast hosted by Executive Producer John Vignocchi and Community Manager Allison Petrek.…
